PATH

People Achieving Their Highest

The "PATH" is built on one simple principle: "Every individual has the right to be all that they can be;" with the ultimate goal being self-sufficiency.  To that end the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem in collaboration with local community partners has agreed to provide programs and services focusing on reducing or eliminating the family dependency on local, state and federal support.  This program has two paths: Education and Employment. The education path is targeted to pre-k through college, with a maximum age limit of 25.  The employment path is targeted to ages 18 through 61.  Based on federal statutory rules, tenant participation in this program is fully voluntary.

Entrance into PATH is through a single orientation and assessment portal.  The activities associated with this first step include but are not limited to:

  • Orientation
  • List of services and programs
  • Benefits and outcomes
  • Services and client participation and expectations
  • In-depth assessment of entire household
  • Development of individualized goals and objectives
  • Assignment to an individual case manager
  • Career counseling
  • Job readiness
  • Job search and placement

Based on the assessment findings each individual will be assigned to either the education or employment path.
