Youth Services Program
Youth programs are provided in the following family developments: Piedmont
Park , Cleveland Avenue Homes and Stoney Glen. Each of these areas has an after-school
homework assistance program that operates Monday through Friday. Each area has
a computer lab that enhances the program. All sports programs are an extension
of homework assistance programs.
Various sports programs provide an alternative to crime, drugs and other negative
behavior for youth and an incentive for youth to stay in school by:
- Developing desirable traits of character
- Building physical fitness
- Promoting frequent positive relationships to increase sociability and togetherness
- Maintaining group spirit, pride of belonging and fellowship in a structured,
positive and well disciplined organization
- Capitalizing on the unlimited potential and energy of youth to do thins and
do them well
- Strengthening family relationships
Youth sports programs include: golf, basketball and baseball.
» The Youth Services programs are available to residents in all
of the public housing developments and some programs are extended to Section
8 participants.
