HAWS owns and operates two types of Low Rent Public Housing. Family Developments
and High-Rise Living. All developments continue to provide quality management
services to residents. Managers work closely with the Resident Services Department
to ensure coordination of activities and programs such as Family Self Sufficiency.
Low Rent housing communities in Winston-Salem include Cleveland Avenue Homes,
Piedmont Park, Stoney Glen and Townview Apartments. These developments are located
in the eastern, southern, and northern sections of the city. We offer a variety
of floor plans in one to four bedroom apartments.
Presently, HAWS has three high-rise apartment buildings. They are Sunrise
Towers (single room occupancy), Crystal Towers (elderly, near elderly and disabled),
and Healy Towers (elderly and near elderly). These apartments are located
in the eastern, western, and downtown areas of the city. The resident has a choice
of an efficiency or a one bedroom unit.
Rental rates for both conventional and high-rise living are determined as
follows:
- Rent based on income, or
- Flat Rent amount as follows:

1 BR $ 410.00
2 BR $ 470.00
3 BR $ 570.00
4 BR $ 650.00
